A meeting was held at the General Directorate of Ports on 10/1/2018 to discuss a number of important issues related to the work of the maritime sector in the ministry under the chairmanship of Assistant Minister of Transport Mr. Mohammad Ammar Kamal Al-Din and the attendance of the general directors of the General Directorate of Ports, The two sides have been accredited by the Egyptian Maritime Safety Authority for the promotion and updating of knowledge in the General Organization for Maritime Training and Rehabilitation, which will allow them to attract a wide range Of the Syrians who have received the Egyptian certificate, which constitutes a great support for the institution, and reduces the burdens and costs of travel and residence abroad for Syrian sailors.
The Syrian Arab Republic has acceded to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certificates and Seizures (STCW 1978) since 2000 under Law No. 14, and as a result of amendments to the articles of the Convention and the necessities of work, Law No. 57 of 2001 on Maritime Certificates And the amendments to the 1978 Convention and the Manila Amendments of 2010, and after the efforts exerted by the concerned parties in the Ministry of Transport, the General Directorate of Ports and the General Training Corporation, Law No. 34 of 2017 was issued. The evaluation was conducted for the General Directorate of Ports, And the PE Marine training and qualification by an expert from the Maritime Authority in Malta for the granting of rehabilitation for various marine certificates Bertbha, were sent the file to the IMO in London. After that, the Ministry of Transport issued the executive instructions in resolutions 1480 and 1481 and 1482 of 2017.
It should be noted that these procedures ensure that the Syrian Arab Republic remains on the white list for the award of maritime certificates, and returns millions of dollars on the public treasury of the state, and enables the Syrian citizen in particular to obtain or renew this certificate in the country.
