This department is in charge of the projects of the marine and engineering buildings and equipments belonging to the general directorate of ports, their building up and maintenance.This is the concerned department that takes care of all technical equipments and floating objects, machineries and others, and to give out their technical opinion regarding these vessels and floating objects along with technical equipments of all these constructions for all their technical needs set forth by the general directorate of ports.We also prepare and organize all civil works and put necessary studies of guards' points, buildings and others.

This department also issues necessary licenses for vessels' radio stations fitted on board Syrian flag vessels of GMDSS system, issuing GMDSS certificates of q form.
